Wouldn’t a currency that expires boost consumerism? We are 8 billions and growing, we need to move away from consumerism and embrace sustainability, distribute resources more evenly, protect the environment, get out of this mad rat race towards our self destruction. The capitalist model needs to die, its time is over. Our technology enables socialism to be realised without it turning oppressive like it happened in the past. We won’t need workers, we won’t need bureaucrats, we won’t need corrupted politicians, all can and will be done by artificial intelligence. It’s just a matter of time, it cannot be stopped. I can’t guarantee that machines won’t turn oppressive (especially if governed by men) but technology is always neutral and should never be blamed. It’s up to us what we want to make of it.
