And yet Salvator Mundi has something in common with Mona Lisa, as I explain in my theory here.
It comes from an obscure Italian artist, not an art historian, and yet it provides plenty of visual evidence. Official theories force us to acrobatic historical reconstructions while the core of my theory seems to flow without forcing interpretations as much.
I am shocked to be the only one (as far as I am aware) suggesting the identity of Salvator Mundi and others. It seems rather evident and yet we prefer to stick to tradition even if more inconsistent.
My impression is that we idealised Leonardo too much as the quintessential genius and a miraculous painter, which he was, but he was also a freaky guy, a hippie, a lazy butt.
Today Leonardo would be trashed by hysterical media tribunal because of his sexual inclinations and eccentric personality. They would call him predator, monster, rapist, pedo, and ban him from anything in their power (although he was a very charming and kind man who wouldn’t hurt or eat animals and was beloved by his disciples).
If we could teleport him here, after the initial excitement I think he would greatly dislike our world dominated by vile merchants and full of angry, depressed, frustrated people manipulated by them. He would swear at them and at their perpetual pursuit of consumerism, gossip, and sensation.
